JAMES A. HARLAN

James A. Harlan, age 80, former local resident, died Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Diana Weaver, in Chicago. Infirmities were the cause of death. Mr. Harlan was born in Parke county on December 30, 1855. He was married on October 9, 1881 to Alice D. Nichols, who died several years ago. He was a member of the Royal Neighbors. Besides the daughter at whose home he died, the survivors include one brother, Stephen A., of Dunlap, Calif., and two grandchildren, James and Marilyn Weaver, of Chicago. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dren M., and William T., both of this city, and Oscar V., of Bloomingdale. The remains will arrive in Crawfordsville at 12:30 o'clock, Thursday afternoon and will be taken to Proffitt and Sons mortuary. Graveside services in Oak Hill cemetery will be conducted by Rev. Rieman at 2 0'clock Thursday afternoon. - kbz
